It is a replacement for an earlier Iron man that itself replaced the original wooden man, which was originally a ship’s figurehead.This former fishing village is sometimes referred to as the Land’s End of Wales - or Pendraw’r Byd in Welsh - and is near Bardsey Island.The area around Aberdaron has been inhabited by people for millennia and has a long and rich history.Evidence from the Iron Age hill fort at Castell Odo, on Mynydd Ystum, shows that it was constructed unusually early - between 2850 and 2650 BC.Above the village, on the Afon Daron, stands Bodwrdda, an early 16th-century stone-built house, which had a fulling mill adjacent.With miles of Blue Flag sandy beaches to explore in an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), you’ll never want to leave.A trip to Bardsey Island will reveal the isle of 20,000 saints and the ruins of St Mary’s Abbey, and you can even see the seals and sea birds.Dolphins can also be spotted in the seas around the Llŷn Peninsula. We’ve covered virtually every main road and back road in the region over the years, and visited so many great North Wales villages. Wales is a simply stunning place to visit. a few shops, a pub and a chip ship.Tremadog also boasts one of the country’s most iconic chapels. With views across to Yr Eifl and Snowdonia, Porthdinllaen, with Nefyn and Morfa Nefyn, form a magnificent two miles of sweeping bay.There are only about two dozen buildings at Porthdinllaen, with the Tŷ Coch pub the centre of the village. Situated in the farming landscape of the Vale of Llangollen, the village was built on a high outcrop of limestone below several quarries - although the industries have now long gone.Among the landmarks left around Froncysyllte by industrial development is the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, a World Heritage Site, which was built by Thomas Telford in 1795 to carry the Llangollen Canal across the River Dee.For the musical among us, the village is home to the Froncysyllte Male Voice Choir - formed in 1947 and of local men and have the fastest ever selling classical record of all time.The Offas Dyke footpath also runs immediately through Froncysyllte and is within easy walking distance of some of the best remaining examples of the Dyke.Located five miles inland from the coastal town of Abergele, the beautiful village of Betws yn Rhos is nestled in the Conwy countryside.
