[I think the only thing I hate is that Grinder died right after the hilarious revenge acted out by the rest of the team. Well, this summer I decided enough was enough and I finally buckled down to read the tale of these so-called Wraiths. Pretty good villains. But one taste is not nearly enough, and he finds himself sharing more of his real self with her than he has with anyone. He doesn't completely succeed at the second one, but it's a heroic try for a universe which has Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.Although Stackpole's entries in the X-Wing series are arguably the ones for which the series is remembered – the exploits and adventures of Rogue Squadron – I actually prefer Allston's contribution to the series.
I could be biased, though, because I think Stackpole wrote THE most human book in the entire Star Wars Expanded Universe: "I, Jedi," set in the first-person, which is also aIt's always tough when you're introducing a totally new cast of original characters, and the leading/governing characters in this book only had very minor roles in the original films (with very brief cameos by the Big Three).

. Plus it's an interesting plotline that's being developed over this series. This book begins a 3-book story-arc within the X-Wing series about Wraith Squadron. It is not technically necessary to have knowledge of books 1-4 in order to enjoy the Wraith series. They are the galaxy's most elite fighting force. The mission: to gain vital intelligence about Trigit's secret weapons, to sabotage the admiral's plans, and to lure him into an Alliance trap. This book really made me love Wedge and Ackbar. However, this story becomes a tale of espionage, action, humor, and intrigue. Now they must go on a daring undercover mission--as the crew of an Imperial warship.I always enjoy his work. Brad Thor—you’ve got competition!”—Raymond Benson “A feast for thriller lovers!”—Grant Blackwood, New York Times bestselling author of The Kill Switch INCLUDES A PREVIEW OF SHADOW CATCHER James R. Hannibal (Lt Col, USAF Reserve), author of Shadow Maker and Shadow Catcher, is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy who has flown the A-10 Warthog, the MQ-1 Predator drone, and the top secret B-2 Stealth Bomber, totaling over a thousand combat and combat support hours. But these challenges pale in comparison to the threat posed by a rogue Republic agent, one who is determined to win Adumar's allegiance once and for all - even if it costs the X-wing pilots their lives.Sleek, swift and deadly, the famed X-Wing fighters have earned their reputation as the Rebel Alliance's ultimate strike force the hard way: first in battle, the last line of defense. I could be biased, though, because I think Stackpole wrote THE most human book in the entire Star Wars Expanded Universe: "I, Jedi," set in the first-person, which is also among my favorite EU stories. If Rogue Squadron is the group that does the impossible, Wraith Squadron is the group that does the ludicrously insane. In fact, I put off reading it for 15 years or so. And as the battle against the Empire rages, the X-wing fighters risk life and machine to protect the Rebel Alliance. Wraith Squadron.
This time Wedge Antilles sends them in to stop the warlord Zsinj and his Super Star Destroyer, Iron Fist. I can actually give 1-2 lines about each character now, just from seeing the name. Delegates from both the New Republic and the Empire have been invited to Adumar, and each camp will be given a chance to plead its government's case. Wraith Squadron continues that tradition by presenting us an unusual group of upstarts who have to battle their own personal problems at the same time they help in the fight against the Empire, proving their true worth. As serious bookworms know, autumn reading is particularly rewarding. [: 1) The book drags on past its shelf life. There is nothing like a really good tie-in novel. If you liked the first books, you won't be missing anything in this one. Wraith Squadron was Wedge Antilles's boldest creation: a covert-action unit of X-Wing fighters, its pilots drawn from the dregs of other units, castoffs and rejects given one last chance. I pick this one to review because I think Aaron Allston's part of the series was clearly the best part. While agents provocateurs carry out their acts of terrorism, the fledging state can be defended only by the blood and courage of Rogue Squadron. And that means first becoming pirates in space lanes teeming with Imperial Navy patrols.

About Wraith Squadron: Star Wars Legends (X-Wing) They are the galaxy’s most elite fighting force. Reference Book: Star Wars Saga Edition Galaxy at War See also: GaW Military Units Wraith Squadron is a patently bizarre Starfighter unit. Anyway, after years of Commanding Rogue Squadron, the most elite group of X-wing pilots in the New Republic, Commander Wedge Antilles is given a daunting assignment by Admiral Ackbar: turn a talanted band of mis-fits and screw-ups into a formidable fighting force, or be forced to accept a General's commision he doesn't want. Cultivated from the washouts and lost causes of other units, Wedge Antilles puts together a team of commandos to fly X-Wings, turning Rogue Squadron's initiative of pilots who do commando work on its ear.Yup, I read this series, too.

(r), TM & (c) 1998 Lucasfilm Ltd. All rights reserved. Good space battles. And as the battle against the Empire rages, the X-wing fighters risk life and machine to protect the Rebel Alliance. They're also much funnier and a much richer vein of RPG ideas, so perhaps I'm biased. Is your knowledge of Star Wars vast enough to make George Lucas hire you as the ultimate Star Wars historian? And as the battle against the Empire rages across the vastness of space, the pilots risk both their lives and their machines for the cause of the Rebel Alliance.

I couldn't wait to see what mission they would take on next and how they could possibly pull it off. First of all, Wedge Antilles hasn't gone anywhere. To defeat him, Wraith Squadron must join a combat task force led by the only man crafty enough to beat Zsinj at his own game: Han Solo. Which makes for a rather entertaining read.I loved Star Wars Legends, and I'm petty sure I read this book more than 15 years ago now. He doesn't make their journey unbelievable nor does he try to make them superheroes. February 1998
